A rare white tea grown at 1830m in Ceylon's Nuwara Eliya region. The tea buds are hand rolled into silver, needle-like buds with a velvety texture. A light and delicate brew on the palate, ending with a 'greenish' seasonal high grown character.

Very Special Rare Tea

Ceylon Silver Tips White Tea is a rare and exquisite type of tea that belongs to the Dilmah t-Series VSRT collection. VSRT teas are known worldwide for their exceptional quality and excellence. Silver Tips, real white tea, is amongst the most rare and sophisticated of teas for the discerning tea drinker. Unlike other teas that are labelled as "white tea," real white tea maintains a specific appearance, with silvery leaves, velvety texture, and a bright, golden colour when brewed. It is made from handpicked buds of the Camellia Sinensis plant, and the picking process is restricted to the most experienced tea pickers. It requires gentleness to avoid damaging the cells within the bud and causing fermentation, which can lead to bitterness in the tea. White tea is unique in being entirely handmade. After the buds are carefully harvested, they are hand sorted under the supervision of the tea-maker to ensure that the batch contains only undamaged buds. The buds are then lightly baked in filtered sunlight before being packed into foil-lined boxes for transport. Silver Tips are typically picked early in the morning, before photosynthesis begins. A single tea picker can typically harvest only 200-250 grams of buds each day, whereas they would usually pick 16-20 kg of tea – 2 leaves and a bud. Ceylon Silver Tips White Tea is best taken straight, as its excellence can be enjoyed without the need for additives. It necessitates attention during preparation and yields a complex flavour with hints of pear, honey, and a slightly spicy embrace. The beauty of the infused buds adds to the enjoyment of this one-of-a-kind brew.

Storage advice

Keep the tea stored in its steel box, in a cool dark place. It is important, when storing, to keep it away from sources of heat. If storing in the refrigerator or freezer, pack in small, completely airtight packets or jars. Before use, wait for it to reach room temperature in order to prevent any condensation. Each defrosted packet should be used within a week after opening.
