He believed that business should be a matter of human service, and a company’s most valuable assets are its people. Therefore, to maintain high standards of health amongst plantation communities, healthcare centres, located within Dilmah tea gardens, are fully equipped and continually upgraded. One example of this is the establishment of the Merrill J. Fernando Health Centre, at the Somerset Estate in Talawakelle, serving a population of 3600 plantation workers and their families. Moreover, the MJF Foundation has both donated an ECG machine to the Westhall Estate Government Hospital in Nawalapitiya, and, with assistance from the Foundation, the Houpe Estate Hospital was renovated and upgraded. With such efforts, Dilmah tea gardens are working towards ensuring the health and wellbeing of their communities.

Keep the tea stored in its steel box, in a cool dark place. It is important when storing it to keep it away from sources of heat. If storing in the refrigerator/ freezer, pack in small, completely airtight packets or jars. Before use, wait for it to reach room temperature, in order to prevent any condensation. Each defrosted packet should be used within a week after opening.
