Uda Watte Region

Uda Watte tea is a full-bodied, refreshing blend grown at an altitude of 1220-1525 metres in the region of Dimbula, which was one of the first areas to be planted with tea after coffee was replaced in the 1870s. The crisp, cool air of this predominantly tea garden region creates a unique rounded, full bodied and refreshing blend. The area is famous for its breathtaking mountain ranges, winding roads, and waterfalls, and is home to Sri Lanka's second-highest peak, Sri Pada, which is revered by Buddhists, Muslims, and Christians. The view there is breathtaking; its cone-shaped symmetry dominates the landscape and can be seen from as far as Colombo on a clear day.

Best Uda Watte tasting

To fully appreciate the unique taste of Uda Watte tea, it is recommended to enjoy it straight without any added milk or sugar. However, a touch of honey or a squeeze of fresh lemon can enhance the tea's natural flavours. Uda Watte is a versatile tea that can be paired with a variety of dishes, making it perfect for breakfast or enjoyed alongside a rich fatty meat, steak, or dessert. For a unique and indulgent pairing, try Uda Watte with a slice of praline cake or a banana. To complement the tea's strong and bold taste, consider pairing it with Lindt 70% Cocoa Intense Dark chocolate for a decadent and satisfying treat.

Storage advice

Store the tea in its steel box, and keep in a cool, dark place. It is important, when storing, to keep it away from sources of heat.
If storing in the refrigerator or freezer, pack in small, completely airtight packets or jars. Before use, wait for it to reach room temperature, in order to prevent any condensation. Each defrosted packet should be used within a week after opening.
